Clarity Act Odds Plunge Amid Partisan Crypto Spat
The odds of the Clarity Act passing in Washington have dwindled in recent days due to a partisan spat over its ethics provisions. The bill aims to clarify market structure for cryptocurrencies, but lawmakers are at an impasse on how its rules would impact President Donald Trump and his family's crypto holdings. Galaxy Research's Alex Thorn has cut his odds of the Clarity Act becoming law this year from a coin flip (50%) to 30%, citing the ethics dispute.
The disagreement centers around the bill's attempts to curb public office holders' activities in the sector. This has led some lawmakers to question whether the provisions would apply to Trump and his family, who have significant crypto holdings. Thorn believes that this uncertainty will make it difficult for the bill to pass.
