Clarity Act on Track for Passage as Younger Democrats Support Crypto Regulation
Coinbase's Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad says the Clarity Act is likely to pass in Congress, citing younger Democrats' support for the measure. The bill aims to set in stone digital asset regulation and would lock in US crypto regulation, improving clarity and adoption.
Shirzad stated that 'a lot of the opposition is generational, so it is Democrats who oppose it, but I think younger members who understand the technology, understand that money is transforming how we should engage financially, how we need to adapt.' He added that with roughly 67 million Americans owning crypto, 'we've got ethics nailed down, we've got nominations nailed down, we've got a bipartisan bill on the substance, we should be good to go.'
The latest draft of the Clarity Act bans officials and their families from issuing or promoting crypto. Some Democrats still have concerns about ethics and stablecoin yields, but Shirzad is optimistic that the bill will pass.
