CLARITY Act Optimism Lifts Crypto Stocks Amid US Treasury Bond Buyback Boost
Crypto stocks surged on Wednesday as optimism around the CLARITY Act's potential passage in September grew. Clear Street analyst Owen Lau attributed this rise to two main drivers: investors rotating out of AI stocks and into crypto-adjacent equities, and fresh confidence in the CLARITY Act becoming law.
The U.S. Treasury announced it would double its long-term bond buyback operations starting September 9, sending yields lower and contributing to the broader market uptick. Bitcoin rose 6%, Ethereum jumped 10%, Solana increased 7%, and XRP gained 8% in response.
Regulatory clarity is a key factor for companies like Coinbase and Bullish, which have long faced regulatory uncertainty that has weighed on their valuations. Passage of the CLARITY Act would establish more durable rules for digital assets and trading platforms in the US, harder to reverse by future administrations.
