CLARITY Act Talks Stalled Over Trump Asset-Sale Clause
The CLARITY Act, a proposed US law aimed at clarifying digital asset regulation, has hit a snag in negotiations over an ethics provision requiring President Donald Trump to sell his digital assets or place them in a blind trust.
Senator Cynthia Lummis revealed that the latest draft of the bill includes this provision, which sets ethics standards for top government officials and aims to address potential conflicts of interest.
However, many Democratic lawmakers remain reluctant to advance the bill, citing concerns that the clause could weaken a midterm campaign narrative centered on Trump's cryptocurrency-related dealings.
