CLARITY Act to Face Senate Vote on September 15 Amid Ongoing Negotiations
Coinbase's Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad said in an interview that the Senate is set to hold its first procedural vote on the CLARITY Act on September 15. The vote was previously delayed due to ongoing negotiations over ethics provisions and other technical issues.
The Senate Majority Leader John Thune had left the bill off the August agenda, but Shirzad stated that lawmakers now have a firm date for the first procedural step. He noted that this gives them several weeks to resolve remaining disagreements.
Negotiations over ethics provisions, which include conflicts of interest, public officials and digital assets, as well as enforcement and illicit finance issues, are ongoing. The White House has also been involved in discussions over the ethics proposal.
