CLARITY Act Vote Delayed Until September Amid Democratic Push for More Negotiations
The Senate Majority Leader John Thune has confirmed that the CLARITY Act vote will be delayed until September, after the August recess. The bill, which aims to establish a regulatory framework for digital assets and provide more transparency in the crypto industry, had been expected to come up for a floor vote before the break.
The delay was announced by Thune on X, where POLITICO reporter Jordain Carney shared the update. According to Carney, Thune said that the Senate would get the bill 'teed up' for when they return in mid-September.
The CLARITY Act has been a topic of debate among lawmakers, with Democrats pushing for more negotiations on outstanding issues before a vote. Republican leaders had been trying to pass the bill during the recess, but it appears that more time is needed to reach an agreement.
