CLARITY Act Vote Postponed, Chances of Passage Decrease
The CLARITY Act, designed to provide clear frameworks for regulating digital assets in the U.S., has seen its chances of passing by the end of 2026 decrease significantly after a Senate vote was postponed until September. According to Grayscale's head of research, Zachary Pandl, this delay will not immediately affect major blockchains or the demand for Bitcoin.
The bill includes provisions for protecting consumers, investors, and software developers, as well as rules for blockchain capital, tokenized securities, and cryptocurrency intermediaries. Despite its importance, experts believe that even without the passage of the CLARITY Act, the crypto market will continue to develop.
Grayscale predicts that regulators, including the SEC and CFTC, will fill legislative gaps with their own regulations, particularly in the area of tokenized securities. Bitwise's head of investments, Matt Hougan, also believes that new regulatory mechanisms and institutional progress will allow the crypto market to continue developing.
