CLARITY Act's Passage Hinges on 7 Crucial Democrat Votes
The CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at regulating cryptocurrencies in the US, is facing new pressure from Senate Democrats. A report from the Democrats has identified five major loopholes in the bill, including weakened SEC enforcement and gaps in anti-money laundering regulations for DeFi platforms and crypto mixers.
According to BankXRP, a prominent crypto commentator, these concerns have been flagged by the Democratic report. The report's findings also include the absence of a private right of action for investors, which has raised red flags among Democrats.
The bill requires 60 votes to pass, and with all 53 Senate Republicans committed to voting yes, it still needs seven additional votes from across the aisle. However, with only reports suggesting between 7 and 10 Democratic senators are prepared to support the bill, the outlook for its passage is uncertain.
