Clarity Bill Stalls on Ethics Provisions
The Clarity bill, a key crypto legislative proposal in the US, is facing an uncertain future as negotiations between Democrats and Republicans stall over ethics provisions.
According to recent reports, even Republican senators are voicing concerns that the bill may not secure the necessary support for passage this year.
Republican Senator Mike Rounds of South Dakota stated that 'it doesn't look good' in terms of the bill's chances of passing, while Republican Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina said it would fail without a compromise.
Democratic Senator Angela Alsobrooks of Maryland also expressed her reluctance to support the bill unless stronger ethics provisions are included.
The Senate had planned to take up the Clarity bill after returning from its recess, but with midterm elections approaching and a shorter House schedule, the chances of passage this year have dwindled to around 15%.
