Clayton's Crypto Legacy: Former SEC Chairman Sworn In as US Intelligence Chief
Former SEC Chairman Jay Clayton has been sworn in as the new U.S. Director of National Intelligence (DNI), following his Senate confirmation in a narrow 51-47 vote.
This development is significant, particularly for the cryptocurrency industry, given Clayton's involvement in the landmark lawsuit against Ripple in December 2020, shortly before he left the SEC.
Ironically, since leaving the agency, Clayton has taken a more pro-crypto stance. He joined One River Asset Management's advisory council and Fireblocks' advisory board, expressing optimism about blockchain and supporting clear rules for stablecoins, decentralized finance, and Bitcoin exchange-traded products.
