CleanSpark Abandons Bitcoin Mining for High-Performance Computing in Georgia
CleanSpark is gearing up for a significant shift at its Sandersville campus in Georgia. The company has signed a 20-year lease with an unnamed global technology firm, which will transition the site from Bitcoin mining to high-performance computing.
The agreement is expected to generate $6.6 billion in contracted revenue over its initial term, with options for two five-year extensions that could extend the deal to 30 years.
CleanSpark's current Bitcoin mining operation will be relocated to a new data center being built nearby, which is scheduled for completion between late 2027 and early 2028. The new facility will utilize a closed-loop system, reducing water consumption by significantly less than an Olympic-sized swimming pool in regular operations.
The company emphasizes its commitment to local hiring and training, with employees receiving ownership through shares.
