CleanSpark Bitcoin Mining Not Causing Power Surges, Says Jellico Utilities CEO
Jellico Utilities CEO Joe Carroll recently addressed concerns about power surges in the area, specifically related to CleanSpark's bitcoin mining operations.
Carroll stated that CleanSpark does not cause power surges, as they pull a steady voltage and have a consistent load factor. He also noted that power surges can be caused by lightning strikes or equipment failures, which are not the utility company's responsibility.
A Jellico Utilities customer, Heather Wallace, reported experiencing multiple power surges in her area, which she believes may be related to CleanSpark's operations. She stated that she has lost appliances due to these surges and estimates it will cost around $1,100 to replace her AC unit, as well as an additional $1,500 for surge protection equipment.
