CleanSpark Shares Surge on Bitcoin Holdings, Market Value Rises Sixfold
CleanSpark's shares surged 8% on Thursday, August 20, as its market value rose sixfold due to its Bitcoin holdings. The company finished the session at $12.60, with a daily increase of 7.97%, while Bitcoin advanced 4.98%. CleanSpark's market capitalization increased by approximately $238 million.
The jump in equity far outpaced the direct rise in cryptocurrency value. Using Bitcoin's daily increase on CleanSpark's June 30 Bitcoin holdings results in an initial $40.6 million increase, assuming both the quantity and cost basis remained constant. The estimated gain in share value was 5.9 times higher than this figure.
CleanSpark is positioning itself as a power and data center business, using Bitcoin mining cash flow. Thursday's action boosted the option value with a new premium. A key driver for the future is a 20-year data center lease in Georgia, inked in July. CleanSpark projects initial-term revenue at $6.6 billion and anticipates average annual net operating income of about $330 million.
