CleanSpark's $497M Loss Highlights Risky Bitcoin Valuation Exposure
CleanSpark, a Bitcoin miner, reported a $497.2 million swing from profit to loss in its fiscal third-quarter results.
The company's revenue fell by 30.5% year-over-year and by 30% compared to the previous quarter.
BTC valuation changes accounted for about 87% of the profit-to-loss reversal, with a $268.7 million fair-value gain becoming a $116.3 million loss and a separate $31.4 million gain on BTC collateral becoming a $16.5 million loss.
CleanSpark used $409.3 million in operating cash during the first nine months of its fiscal year, but still needs substantial additional capital to fund the rest of its balance sheet.
The company's Sandersville AI lease is expected to contribute in Q4 2027, with phased deliveries beginning in that quarter.
