CleanSpark's Massive Bitcoin Accounting Shift Exposes High-Stakes Gap in AI Transition
CleanSpark's financials have taken a hit due to a $433 million Bitcoin accounting shift, according to its latest quarterly results. The company reported a 30.5% year-over-year revenue decline and a swing from profit to loss of $497.2 million in the fiscal third quarter.
The shift in Bitcoin valuation lines was a major contributor to CleanSpark's poor performance, with a $268.7 million fair-value gain becoming a $116.3 million loss, representing a $384.9 million change. Additionally, a $31.4 million gain on Bitcoin collateral became a $16.5 million loss, a $47.9 million shift.
CleanSpark's cash flow statement was also less severe than its income statement, but still showed operating cash use of $409.3 million in the first nine months of its fiscal year.
