CleanSpark's Record-Breaking AI Lease Falls Flat Amid Bitcoin Surge
CleanSpark's shares fell 4.9% on Friday despite Bitcoin rising 7.3%. The company unveiled a $6.6 billion AI lease, valued at 214% of its market capitalization. This significant contract represents the largest deal in CleanSpark's history and is set to provide long-term cash flows.
The Sandersville lease will span 20 years with two possible extensions that could increase the total value to $11.6 billion. CleanSpark projects an average net operating income of nearly $330 million per year during the initial period, which would account for around 10.7% of its market cap. The project's essential IT capacity is expected to be 175 megawatts.
Shareholders are still waiting to see how this massive deal will translate into actual revenue and cash flow. CleanSpark's CEO Matt Schultz stated that the lease provides 'long-term, durable cash flows and de-risked economic returns.' However, the company's current financials indicate a net loss of $239.8 million in the fiscal third quarter.
Wall Street analysts remain optimistic about CleanSpark's future prospects, with all 13 analysts monitored rating the stock as buy or strong-buy. The consensus price target stands at $23.81, suggesting potential gains of 98.8%. However, investors should be cautious of risks associated with execution and financing.
