Clearpool Expands XRP Ledger Presence With Token Overhaul
Clearpool is planning to bring its institutional lending infrastructure to the XRP Ledger (XRPL) as part of its expansion plans. The company will replace its current token, CPOOL, with a new one called CLEAR in a proposed 1:1 migration. This move aims to recapitalize Clearpool's treasury and fund incentives for network growth.
Clearpool has been working on building lending infrastructure natively on XRPL, along with Ripple and Cicada Partners, through an institutional credit initiative. The company states that its platforms have facilitated over $965 million in institutional loans since 2021. CLEAR will be used to support the development of fixed-term institutional credit on XRPL.
The proposed buyback-and-burn program for CLEAR would direct half of protocol fees towards buying CLEAR on the open market and permanently removing those tokens from circulation. The community will have a 14-day discussion period before voting through Snapshot, with the migration and allocations remaining as proposed terms until then.
Clearpool has been testing its integration on Devnet and plans to use XRPL features for participant credentials and permissioned access once mainnet is approved. Ripple's architecture description keeps underwriting and compliance decisions offchain while standardizing agreed loan terms onchain.
