Cloudflare Enables Stablecoin Payments for AI Agents with Programmable Wallets
Cloudflare has introduced programmable wallets for AI agents, enabling them to make payments using stablecoins through an API. This move is part of a broader trend in the crypto space where companies are creating products and services tailored to support the emerging AI agent economy.
The AI agent economy refers to the increasing use of artificial intelligence systems that can independently perform financial transactions, trade assets, and interact with other digital entities. In this context, Cloudflare's programmable wallets allow AI agents to make payments using stablecoins, which are cryptocurrencies designed to maintain a stable value relative to fiat currencies.
Cloudflare is not the only company catering to the AI agent economy. Coinbase has introduced three new products to support payments, trading, and development in this emerging market. Block has also launched Buzz, a decentralized workspace for AI agents built using Nostr. Meanwhile, Celo has added native support for Machine Payments Protocol (MPP) via its mppx SDK.
