Cloudflare Launches AI Wallets for Stablecoin Payments
Cloudflare has launched AI wallets that enable stablecoin micropayments, aiming to make it easier for artificial intelligence agents to buy digital services online.
The wallets, called Cloudflare Wallets, are programmable and designed specifically for AI agents. They allow these agents to identify themselves and pay for services using stablecoins, a step towards making 'agentic commerce' a reality.
Cloudflare's new wallets integrate with the Monetization Gateway and Coinbase's x402 protocol, which enables machine-to-machine payments. The wallets come in two forms: an Account Wallet that lets individuals and organizations load funds and set spending rules, and a Virtual Wallet that operates through API keys.
The appeal of stablecoin micropayments lies in reducing friction for AI agents, allowing them to test new options with little hassle. Cloudflare software engineer Will Papper notes that these wallets will enable users to hold stablecoins and accept payments throughout the internet.
