CME Gains Ground as Institutional Investors Flock to XRP Futures
XRP futures open interest has shifted significantly towards CME, the regulated U.S. exchange used by professional trading firms and investment managers. The shift indicates rising institutional participation in XRP's derivatives market.
Total XRP open interest fell to about 2.34 billion tokens from 2.77 billion between August 17 and August 31, while XRP's price rose from $0.99 to $1.38 over the same period. CME bucked this trend: XRP open interest on the exchange rose by 36% to roughly 387 million tokens.
The increase in CME share matters because many institutional investors prefer or are required to trade through regulated venues rather than offshore crypto exchanges. This migration is happening during a rally, not a sell-off, which suggests that more professional money is entering the XRP futures trade.
