CME Grabs Larger Share of XRP Futures Trading as Token Surges
The CME's share of XRP futures trading has increased significantly as the token rallies by over 40% in two weeks.
Total XRP open interest fell to around 2.34 billion tokens on August 31 from 2.77 billion on August 17, according to CoinGlass data. Meanwhile, XRP's price rose from approximately $0.99 to $1.38 over the same period.
CME, a regulated U.S. futures exchange, bucked this trend with an increase in its share of XRP open interest to about 387 million tokens from 284 million, representing a rise of around 36%.
This shift matters because many institutional investors prefer or are required to trade through regulated venues rather than offshore crypto exchanges. CME's growing share indicates that more professional money is entering the XRP futures market.
