CME Group Expands Crypto Futures Suite with ADA, LINK, and XLM Contracts
CME Group has significantly expanded its cryptocurrency futures suite by adding contracts for Cardano (ADA), Chainlink (LINK), and Stellar (XLM). This move brings CME's regulated crypto derivatives to seven tokens, with coverage of over 75% of total cryptocurrency market capitalization. The 75% figure is based on CoinMarketCap data as of Feb. 13, 2026.
The contracts for ADA, LINK, and XLM were launched on February 9 and are available in both standard and micro sizes. They are cash-settled against CME CF Reference Rates and have seen initial trades executed by major market makers such as FalconX and Marex for the LINK and XLM contracts, and Cumberland DRW and Wintermute for ADA.
The expansion of CME's crypto suite is a deliberate institutional strategy rather than a momentum play. The exchange noted that the new tokens maintain moderate-to-high correlations with Bitcoin, ranging from 0.60 to 0.67. This means they broadly track the market but still offer distinct risk-return profiles useful for hedging and spread trading.
