CME Group Posts Record Market-Data Revenue Amid Ongoing Crypto Perpetuals Litigation
CME Group Inc. Class A (NASDAQ:CME) reported strong Q2 results, driven by record market-data revenue and robust average daily volume (ADV). The company's market-data revenue jumped to $238.1 million, a 20% year-over-year increase.
Additionally, CME Group expanded its product lineup with new contracts, including Compute Futures and Single Stock futures settled to closing prices. The latter is set to launch soon, with retail brokers and over 35 partners ready to support the initiative.
CME Group also made headlines for its ongoing litigation with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) over crypto perpetuals. The company argues that these derivatives should be regulated as swaps, while the CFTC has a different stance on their treatment.
Notably, CEO Terry Duffy stated that clients have shown no demand for perpetual futures since their approval in May 2026. Furthermore, CME Group is planning to launch a physically delivered sorghum basis futures contract, pending regulatory approval.
