CME Launches Single-Stock Futures in Bid to Tap Growing Market
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has launched 55 standard and 22 Micro single-stock futures, linked to some of America's most heavily traded companies.
This marks a significant milestone for the financial market, but it's not the first time single-stock futures have been introduced in the US.
In 2002, OneChicago launched 21 single-stock futures, but they struggled to gain traction and eventually ceased operations in 2020.
CME is trying again, this time targeting a different market that has been shaped by the rise of crypto, brokerage apps, and same-day options.
