CME Unveils New Cryptocurrency Indexes Excluding Bitcoin and Ethereum
CME Group has expanded its cryptocurrency index offerings with two new benchmarks that track major digital assets excluding Bitcoin and Ethereum.
The CME CF Emerging Crypto Index and the CME CF Crypto Market Index are designed to provide a free-float market-cap weighted benchmark for investors. The emerging crypto index tracks 10 cryptocurrencies, including BNB, XRP, SOL, HYPE, LINK, XLM, SUI, UNI, AVAX, and AAVE.
The indexes use real-time calculations every second, 24 hours a day, with settlement versions published once daily at 4 p.m. based on London, New York, and Singapore-Hong Kong time. The emerging crypto index applies strict inclusion criteria, excluding memecoins and requiring custodial accessibility.
CME's push to expand cryptocurrency indexes and derivatives continues with the launch of these new benchmarks. CF Benchmarks plans to provide licences to use the indexes as underlying indices for investment funds and derivatives, further expanding their potential applications.
