Cobb County Victim Recovers Stolen Cryptocurrency After Investment Scam

Share

A Cobb County resident in Atlanta has recovered cryptocurrency after falling victim to an investment scam. According to the Georgia Attorney General's Office, the scammer initially contacted the victim through social media with a supposed 'investment opportunity' on a fake cryptocurrency trading platform.

The victim deposited hundreds of thousands of dollars into the scam, only to be told that all of the funds had been lost. However, investigators from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's White Collar and Cyber Crime Unit were able to track down a significant portion of the stolen cryptocurrency to a cryptocurrency exchange.

The cryptocurrency was ultimately returned to its rightful owner.
