Cognition Snaps Up Poke in Low Nine-Figure Deal, AI Interface Design Heats Up
Cognition, the AI lab behind Devin, an autonomous coding agent, has acquired The Interaction Company, the startup behind text-based AI assistant Poke. The deal, valued in the low nine figures, brings Poke's casual interaction model into Cognition's enterprise-focused orbit.
Poke launched in early 2026 after a beta phase in March and quickly gained traction by allowing users to interact with an AI assistant through familiar messaging platforms like iMessage, WhatsApp, and Telegram. The startup raised $15 million in seed funding in September 2025 at a valuation of $100 million, backed by Spark Capital and General Catalyst.
Cognition's acquisition of Poke signals that AI interface design is the new battleground, with major tech companies competing for control. This deal has zero blockchain components, and no tokens were issued or on-chain governance involved.
