Coinbase Activates Direct Rupee Bank Transfers for Indian Users
Coinbase has activated direct Indian rupee bank transfers for users in India through the Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) network. This move marks a significant step forward for the exchange, which had previously attempted to enter the market but was forced to withdraw due to regulatory issues.
The launch follows Coinbase's registration with India's Financial Intelligence Unit in March 2025, which gave the company a formal regulatory foothold in the country. With this new development, users can now access spot markets, perpetual futures, and the Advanced Trade interface through a single platform.
Coinbase has also built local INR order books to concentrate domestic liquidity alongside connectivity to its global exchange. This expansion is expected to increase trading activity and provide Indian users with greater flexibility in managing their cryptocurrency investments.
