Coinbase Appoints Rob Witoff as Chief Technology Officer

Rob Witoff has been appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Coinbase. As CTO, he will lead the company's engineering efforts and focus on scaling the platform for developers in a rapidly changing software development landscape.

In this role, Witoff aims to make Coinbase 'the world's best platform for builders' by building on its existing engineering culture and pace of innovation. This appointment comes after Witoff returned to Coinbase as Head of Platform in November 2024, joining the company's executive team.

Witoff has a long history with Coinbase, having initially joined the company in 2014 as its first infrastructure engineer. During his initial tenure, he served as Director of Infrastructure & Security and later became Chief Architect, helping define the company's technical vision alongside its founders.
