Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Flips Positive After 98-Day Slump
The Coinbase Bitcoin premium index turned positive on Aug. 24 for the first time in 98 days, according to data from CoinGlass. This shift is seen as a potential early signal that U.S. investor appetite for BTC may be recovering after a prolonged slump.
The index measures the price difference between Bitcoin on Coinbase and global platforms. A positive premium suggests that buyers on Coinbase are willing to pay more than the global average, often interpreted as stronger demand from U.S. institutional and retail participants.
A sustained negative premium indicates weaker buying pressure in the U.S. market relative to other regions. The index had been negative for 97 consecutive days starting May 19, marking the longest such streak on record.
