Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index Hits Record 75-Day Negative Streak
The Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index has reached its longest negative streak since its introduction, standing at 75 consecutive days. According to CoinGlass data, the latest reading shows a -0.0973% difference between the price of Bitcoin on Coinbase Pro and Binance.
This prolonged negative streak began on May 19, surpassing the previous record of 40 days set earlier this year between Jan. 16 and Feb. 24. Historically, extended negative premiums have often coincided with outflows from U.S. institutional investors.
The persistent negative premium is a cautionary signal for market observers, implying that U.S. institutional demand remains subdued. However, the index's predictive power is not absolute, and its value lies in providing insight into regional demand dynamics.
