Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index Slumps to Record 67-Day Low
The Coinbase Bitcoin premium index has been stuck in negative territory for 67 consecutive days, from May 19 to July 24. The latest reading of -0.0884% indicates that Bitcoin is trading at a discount on Coinbase compared to Binance and other global exchanges.
The premium index measures the price difference between Bitcoin on Coinbase Pro (USD pair) and Binance (USDT pair). A positive premium suggests stronger buying pressure from U.S.-based institutional investors, while a negative premium indicates relatively higher selling pressure on Coinbase.
Analysts point to several contributing factors, including reduced U.S. institutional demand, regulatory uncertainty, and arbitrage activity as reasons for the sustained discount.
