Coinbase Bolsters Derivatives Platform with High-Performance Matching Engine
Coinbase has launched a new high-performance matching engine on Deribit by Coinbase. This upgrade enables the platform to process over 100,000 orders per second with sub-millisecond matching latency.
The new engine is designed to deliver faster and more scalable execution for institutional derivatives traders. It also introduces a built-in speed bump on selected instruments, which allows liquidity providers to quote tighter spreads and rest deeper size over time.
Luuk Strijers, Senior Director, Head of International Derivatives at Coinbase, said, 'Derivatives markets demand speed, reliability and the capacity to perform at scale. This new engine strengthens the trading experience for our institutional clients and gives us the flexibility to expand our offering over time.'
The rollout brings Deribit onto the same core execution infrastructure as Coinbase International Exchange, marking an important step in building a more unified global derivatives platform.
