Coinbase Brings Big-Name Stocks to Blockchain via Base Network
Coinbase has launched tokenized stocks on its Base blockchain network, joining rival exchanges Kraken and Binance in bringing stock trading to blockchain. The rollout starts with big names like Apple (AAPL), Nvidia (NVDA), Meta (META), and Alphabet (GOOGL) available to eligible investors outside the US.
The tokens are issued under Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) regulation, where Coinbase recently set up its international tokenization hub. More stocks will follow the initial batch, according to Coinbase.
This move comes as tokenization gains steam across asset classes. Banks and asset managers have already moved tens of billions of dollars in US Treasuries, private credit, and investment funds onchain, RWA.xyz data shows. Citi has projected that tokenized securities could reach $5.5 trillion by 2030.
