Coinbase Brings Regulated Crypto Futures to Canadian Traders
Coinbase has launched regulated derivatives contracts for eligible Canadian traders on September 2. This move makes it the first major crypto-native platform to offer direct native crypto futures in Canada.
The initial lineup combines perpetual-style and dated contracts, with 23 perpetual and dated crypto futures available, including contracts tied to Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana. Coinbase is also offering five commodity futures linked to markets such as gold, silver, and oil, plus index futures like COIN50.
Eligible traders can take long or short positions with leverage of up to 10 times, but the company warns that futures trading may not suit every investor. The contracts are offered by Coinbase Financial Markets, a futures commission merchant registered with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and a member of the National Futures Association.
