Coinbase Brings US Stocks to Base Chain with Tokenized Product Launch

Coinbase has officially launched its tokenized stock products on the Base chain, allowing users to trade and use US stocks as collateral in DeFi protocols. The first four listings are Nvidia (NVDAc), Apple (AAPLc), Meta (METAc), and Alphabet (GOOGLc). This is not the first crypto company to offer tokenized stocks, but Coinbase's approach differentiates itself by directly integrating the stock tokens into the Base chain's DeFi infrastructure.

Coinbase has partnered with Alpaca for custody and Chainlink as its official oracle provider. The B20 standard used for tokenization handles dividends and stock splits through an on-chain multiplier mechanism, ensuring that token balances are adjusted automatically without disrupting DeFi positions.

The Base chain's DeFi ecosystem is expected to expand rapidly, with thousands of listings anticipated in the near future. However, Coinbase faces a limitation: its tokenized stock product is not available to US users due to regulatory constraints.
