Coinbase Brings US Stocks to UK Crypto App in Major Expansion
Coinbase has launched US stock trading for its UK users, allowing British customers to buy and sell nearly 4,000 American equities inside the same app they use for crypto. The rollout begins progressively from August 6 and offers commission-free trading 24 hours a day, five days a week, with fractional shares starting at £1.
The core offering mirrors what Coinbase rolled out to US customers earlier this year: zero-commission trading, fractional shares, and extended 24/5 hours. Eligible UK users will progressively gain access to a selection of US equities, funding trades instantly in GBP or from existing USDC stablecoin balances.
Coinbase framed the move as advancing a future in which 'the divide between how an investor manages traditional investments and digital assets disappears.' This is part of a broader positioning it calls the 'Everything Exchange.'
