Coinbase Business Bolsters AI Payments with x402 Support and USDT Integration

Coinbase Business has expanded its capabilities with the introduction of AI agent payments and USDT support, marking a significant step in the practical use of AI in financial transactions.

The integration leverages the open standard x402, which enables AI agents to initiate and complete payments through existing checkout systems. When an AI agent pays, funds are settled instantly in USDC, Coinbase's native stablecoin.

USDT payments will also be supported, with amounts automatically converted into USDC and deposited into the merchant's Coinbase Business account.

This development is expected to open up a new revenue channel for merchants as AI-driven commerce becomes more prevalent. The x402 standard is designed to be lightweight and compatible with existing payment infrastructure, reducing the technical barrier for adoption.
