Coinbase Business has expanded its digital asset payments platform to support transactions involving AI agents. The feature uses x402, an open standard for machine-to-machine transactions, with payments settling in USDC directly into the merchant's account.

Merchants can now use their existing checkout infrastructure to accept payments from AI agents and benefit from instant settlement and lower fees than credit card transactions. The company claims its payment links, checkouts, and invoice products have processed over 100,000 payments for organizations including AI startups, auction houses, law firms, and non-profits.

Coinbase Business has also introduced USDT support across its payment links, checkouts, and invoices. USDT transactions are automatically converted into USDC for settlement, simplifying the process for merchants. Additionally, merchants can create reusable payment links that can be distributed through various channels, including email, text, or QR codes.
