Coinbase CEO Optimistic About U.S. Crypto Regulation Amid Clarity Act Vote
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong remains optimistic about U.S. crypto regulation despite a looming vote on the Clarity Act.
The Senate is set to hold a procedural vote on September 15, which requires 60 votes to advance the bill. Armstrong expressed confidence that regulatory clarity will arrive around this time frame, whether through legislation or independent action by federal agencies.
He noted that several key points of discussion remain, including ethics rules for government officials who hold digital assets. The current version of the bill includes provisions on stablecoin yields and related competitive issues between banks and crypto firms, as well as restrictions limiting federal officials from issuing or sponsoring digital assets while in office.
Armstrong emphasized that passage of the Clarity Act would be an important regulatory milestone, helping to unlock greater institutional capital and support the development of products such as tokenized equities in the United States. He has previously highlighted the need for clear rules to reduce uncertainty that has long hindered the industry's growth.
