Coinbase CEO Predicts CLARITY Act Senate Vote to Exceed Required Threshold
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated that the US Senate is expected to vote in favor of the CLARITY Act on September 15, exceeding the required 60 votes. This bill aims to establish a clear regulatory framework for digital assets in the United States.
According to Armstrong, the CLARITY Act has entered its final stage and requires 60 votes to move forward in the Senate. He believes that a clearer regulatory environment is approaching, regardless of whether the law passes or regulatory bodies push through with administrative rules.
The bill seeks to clarify the roles of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in regulating digital assets. Trump has also voiced support for the CLARITY Act, citing its importance for establishing a digital asset regulatory system and boosting the US cryptocurrency industry's competitiveness.
However, some lawmakers still have concerns about potential conflicts of interest and stablecoin regulation, which could impact the bill's chances of passing.
