Coinbase CEO: Regulatory Clarity Will Come Regardless of CLARITY Act Outcome
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong believes that even if the CLARITY Act fails to pass in the Senate, regulatory clarity for cryptocurrencies will still emerge. The legislation aims to establish clearer rules for digital assets and define regulatory responsibilities.
Armstrong made his comments ahead of a scheduled Senate vote on September 15, when lawmakers will consider the CLARITY Act. He pointed out that broad support from cryptocurrency companies, banks, and law enforcement could push regulators to move forward with their own rule-making efforts.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) are expected to continue playing central roles in U.S. crypto regulation, according to Armstrong. He expects that both agencies will begin or accelerate rule-making after the Senate vote.
