Coinbase CEO: Regulatory Clarity Will Emerge in US Crypto Industry

Share

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong believes that regulatory clarity in the US will emerge regardless of the fate of the CLARITY Act, which is currently up for a vote in the Senate on September 15. According to Armstrong, the bill has enough support from senators he has spoken with, who view it positively.

Armstrong noted that even if the CLARITY Act fails, regulatory clarity will still be achieved through other means. He pointed out that both the SEC and CFTC have signaled their readiness to publish their own rules for the digital asset market, which would provide greater certainty for the sector.

The parties continue to work on refining the ethics provisions in the bill, a key issue that remains unresolved. Armstrong stated that they are 'very close to a decision' ahead of the vote. He also emphasized the importance of passing the CLARITY Act as an important regulatory milestone that could unlock institutional capital and pave the way for products such as tokenized stocks in the US.
