Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has forecast that AI agents will surpass human crypto transactions in daily activity. According to him, artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency are complementary technologies rather than competitive forces.

A key challenge facing traditional banking is its inability to serve AI agents, which require constant access to services without requiring human authorization for each transaction. Blockchain technology and stablecoins provide the necessary infrastructure, offering instantaneous settlement, programmability, and borderless functionality.

Armstrong introduced 'Agentic Finance' (AiFi) as his framework for this emerging sector and confirmed Coinbase has begun developing products specifically for it. He emphasized that agent transactions involve numerous micropayments for individual API requests, data queries, and computational tasks, differing from traditional consumer behavior.
