Coinbase CEO Slams California's Wealth Tax Plan and Threatens Relocation

Share

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has publicly criticized California's proposed wealth tax plan, calling it an 'unconstitutional confiscation of private assets.'

In a recent appearance on Katie Miller's podcast, wife of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, Armstrong expressed his opposition to the tax plan and hinted at potential relocation for Coinbase.

This is not the first time Armstrong has threatened to leave California; in 2021, he announced the permanent closure of San Francisco offices, only to sign a new lease four years later for 150,000 square feet of office space.

Armstrong also made other contentious claims during the podcast, including a disputed claim about life expectancy in the United States and an unsubstantiated assertion that there are 'millions of crypto voters.'
