Coinbase Deploys Tokenized U.S. Stocks on Base Blockchain
Coinbase has launched tokenized versions of U.S. stocks on its Base blockchain network. The initial batch includes Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet shares.
The tokens are only available to eligible investors outside the United States. Coinbase says more stocks will be added in the coming weeks.
Each token represents a direct, 1:1 claim on an underlying share. The shares are held by Alpaca, a regulated broker and custodian, in a bankruptcy-remote structure.
Coinbase uses its B20 framework to mint the tokens natively on Base. Dividends and stock splits are reflected in the tokens automatically.
