Coinbase Earnings Report Looms: Prediction Markets Signal Low Probability of Beating Expectations
Coinbase Global Inc.'s (NASDAQ:COIN) second-quarter earnings report is scheduled for Thursday, and prediction markets are signaling a low probability of beating expectations. According to Polyamarket's Polygon-based platform, there's only a 5% chance that Coinbase will surpass the Street consensus estimate of $0.03 in GAAP earnings per share.
The current revenue expectation for the quarter is $1.35 billion, which represents a 10% decline from the same period last year. This forecast might be influenced by the company's own performance metrics, as its total trading volume in the second quarter was lower than in the first quarter, according to Coinglass data.
The short interest in Coinbase stock has decreased from 26.8 million to 24.9 million over a month, accounting for 11.3% of the company's publicly available float. A drop in short interest is typically seen as a bullish signal. However, insiders have executed six sales worth $7.3 million in the last 90 days.
