Coinbase Enters Token-Backed Mortgages Amid Expansion Plans

Share

Coinbase Global has extended its crypto infrastructure into traditional housing finance through a partnership with Better Home & Finance Holding Company.

The company announced in August 2026 that it would provide token-backed, conforming mortgage products to Coinbase One members, who are eligible for a lender-funded rebate of 1% of the mortgage value (capped at US$10,000) across standard mortgages, HELOCs, and refinances.

The launch is under Fannie Mae guidelines, and there have been early waitlist indications of over US$260 million in projected loan volume.

This development reinforces Coinbase's focus on tokenization and off-exchange use cases as a key near-term catalyst for the company.
