Coinbase Expands Derivatives Business in Canada with Regulated Crypto Perpetuals
Coinbase has taken a significant step in expanding its derivatives business by launching regulated crypto perpetuals in Canada.
The move makes Coinbase the first major regulated exchange to offer such products in the country, providing eligible Canadian investors with access to a range of digital assets and traditional commodities.
Through Coinbase Financial Markets (CFM), eligible traders can now trade 23 perpetual and dated crypto futures contracts, including those for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and 20 other digital assets. The exchange also offers five commodity futures linked to gold, silver, and oil, as well as index products such as COIN50.
Coinbase's 'everything exchange' strategy aims to combine traditional financial products with crypto offerings, and the Canadian launch is part of this broader initiative. The company has already expanded its financial infrastructure, with Webull Canada selecting Coinbase's Crypto-as-a-Service platform for its own investment platform, and rolling out U.S. stock trading to eligible UK customers.
