Coinbase Expands Derivatives Trading to UK Professional Clients

Coinbase has expanded its derivatives offering to UK professional clients through its MiFID authorization.

The new products include futures, options, and perpetuals, but eligibility is limited to users classified as Professional Clients who meet criteria tied to trading activity, portfolio size, or relevant professional experience.

This expansion gives qualifying clients more tools for hedging, leverage, and sophisticated trading strategies, while keeping retail users outside the product set.

Coinbase's move fits into a growing trend in the UK crypto market, where regulated firms are building inside boundaries for professional and institutional markets rather than waiting for a single open market.
